Garhwa Court Officials Rally Against Drug Abuse

GARHWA: Under the NALSA scheme and in compliance with the directives of the Jharkhand State Legal Services Authority, Ranchi, judicial officers of Civil Court on Tuesday carried out an anti‑drug awareness march as part of the ongoing Drug Awareness and Wellness Navigation (DAWN) program. The initiative is being organized under the supervision of District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Secretary Nima Ranjana Lakra, following the orders of the Principal District & Sessions Judge‑cum‑Chairman, DLSA Garhwa.

The awareness march began from the Garhwa Civil Court premises and passed through major nearby locations before concluding back at the court campus. Holding banners and posters, Para Legal Volunteers (PLVs) spread messages about the harmful effects of drug addiction, urging the public to maintain distance from intoxicants for better health and a brighter future.

Judicial officers used the occasion to appeal especially to the youth, encouraging them to stay away from substance abuse and focus on building a secure future for themselves and their families. A related awareness session was also conducted at Sadar Hospital, Garhwa, where the dangers of addiction and the importance of rehabilitation and wellness were highlighted.

Speaking on the occasion, Principal District & Sessions Judge‑cum‑Chairman, DLSA Garhwa, Manoj Prasad, stated that drug abuse has emerged as a major national challenge, with children being the most vulnerable targets. He noted that students often fall prey due to academic pressure or the stress of competitive examinations, which is exploited by drug peddlers. He emphasized that DLSA’s goal is to ensure every child becomes informed, alert, and capable of resisting such harmful influences, while the message of drug awareness reaches every household.

DLSA Secretary Nima Ranjana further added that the Jharkhand State Legal Services Authority is committed not only to awareness generation but also to ensuring free legal aid for individuals in need. She reiterated that public participation is essential in eradicating drug abuse from society.

The march saw the participation of LADCS panel advocates, court officials, PLVs, and members of the legal fraternity, all jointly reinforcing the message of a drug‑free, healthier community.
