National Road Safety Month; Road Safety Pledge Marks Day Six of National Campaign

GARHWA: The sixth day of the National Road Safety Month 2026 was observed with great enthusiasm as authorities organized a “Road Safety Pledge” ceremony along with a comprehensive awareness campaign. The event focused on educating citizens about the importance of responsible driving, strict adherence to traffic rules, and contributing to a safer road environment. Participants were reminded to stay committed to safety, encourage others to follow traffic norms, and actively support accident victims whenever necessary. Special emphasis was placed on the habit of wearing helmets while riding two‑wheelers.

District Road Safety Manager Sanjay Baitha addressed the gathering and highlighted that a majority of road accidents occur due to negligence and failure to comply with traffic regulations. He urged the public to prioritize safety by wearing helmets on motorcycles and fastening seat belts in four‑wheeler vehicles. He also advised individuals to keep all vehicle documents—such as driving licence, registration certificate, insurance papers, and pollution certificate—accurate and updated. According to him, incomplete documentation often creates challenges while processing compensation claims after accidents.

Mr. Baitha further appealed to drivers to avoid aggressive driving, maintain speed limits, and never operate vehicles under emotional distress. He stressed that safe driving habits are not only essential for one’s own safety but also crucial for the safety of pedestrians and other drivers on the road. He encouraged everyone to strictly follow traffic rules and demonstrate responsible behaviour at all times.

As part of National Road Safety Month 2026, the Garhwa district administration is conducting an extensive series of activities across various locations to promote road safety awareness among the public. These initiatives include: Road Safety Awareness Van, Installation of Reflective Tapes on Vehicles, Intensive Vehicle Checking Drives, Street Plays (Nukkad Natak), Road Safety Bike Rally, “No Helmet, No Fuel” Campaign, Run for Road Safety (Marathon) and many more.
