Garhwa: The district administration has initiated efforts to include mango and ginger in Garhwa’s District Export Action Plan, with Deputy Commissioner Pashupati Nath Mishra directing officials to identify and promote products with export potential during a meeting of the District Level Export Promotion Committee (DLEPC) held at the Collectorate on Friday.
The meeting, conducted in both online and offline modes, focused on identifying district-specific products and formulating a roadmap to boost exports, local entrepreneurship and economic growth.
Addressing the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner instructed concerned departments to prepare a comprehensive district export plan in line with the Government of India’s initiative to promote export-oriented products under the Districts as Export Hubs framework. He emphasized the need to identify Garhwa’s unique products and develop strategies for their promotion in national and international markets.
GM-DIC and Member Secretary Raghuvar Singh informed the committee that products such as carpets and pigeon pea (arhar) have already been identified under the One District One Product (ODOP) initiative. Considering Garhwa’s agricultural potential, the Deputy Commissioner directed officials to explore the inclusion of mango and ginger in the district export roadmap.
The District Agriculture Officer and the District Programme Manager of the Jharkhand State Livelihood Promotion Society (JSLPS) were asked to furnish data on production volumes, availability and other related indicators to support evidence-based planning.
Officials noted that strengthening export promotion could open new market opportunities for local farmers, artisans, entrepreneurs and businesses while enhancing the visibility of Garhwa’s indigenous products. The proposed action plan is expected to focus on increasing production capacity, improving market access and creating employment opportunities through value-added economic activities.
Representatives from the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), EXIM-related agencies, the District Industries Centre, JSLPS and other stakeholder departments participated in the meeting.
