Latehar: The district administration has intensified efforts to promote women’s economic empowerment by linking self-help group members with multiple government schemes under the ambitious Lakpati Didi initiative.
Chairing a District Level Coordination Committee (DLCC) meeting, Deputy Commissioner Sandeep Kumar directed all departments to ensure that eligible women beneficiaries are connected with departmental schemes to enhance their livelihoods and increase their annual income.
The meeting focused on the effective implementation of the Lakpati Didi programme and strategies to create sustainable income-generation opportunities for women through convergence of schemes from various departments.
The Deputy Commissioner instructed officials to prepare a focused implementation plan for the 300 women identified under the IFSC cluster and ensure that they receive the benefits of all eligible schemes. He said the objective was to create long-term livelihood opportunities and transform the identified beneficiaries into financially self-reliant “Lakpati Didis.”
Kumar directed departments to regularly review progress through DLCC and BLCC meetings and monitor whether beneficiaries are receiving the intended support.
He further instructed the Animal Husbandry Department to link identified beneficiaries with livestock-based livelihood programmes and directed the Agriculture Department to initiate steps for establishing a cooling chamber in the IFSC cluster. The proposed facility is expected to help farmers preserve agricultural produce and improve market access.
The Deputy Commissioner emphasized that coordinated efforts among departments would be critical to achieving the programme’s objectives and ensuring the economic empowerment of rural women.
ITDA Director Sarojini Tirkey, District Animal Husbandry Officer Dr Sushma Pradhiya, District Fisheries Officer Swarnalata Madhu Lakra, District Cooperative Officer Asha Toppo, In-Charge Agriculture Officer Anima Lakra, JSLPS DPM Santosh Kumar and other officials attended the meeting.
