St. Mariam School Hosts Teachers’ Day Event,

Palamau: In a heartwarming display of gratitude and admiration, St. Mariam School in Daltonganj, hosted a vibrant and unforgettable Teachers’ Day celebration, honoring the educators who shape the minds and hearts of future generations. The event, held on the school campus, was a blend of tradition, creativity, and heartfelt emotion, leaving both teachers and students with memories to cherish.

The day began with a ceremonial welcome for the teachers, who were greeted at the school gates by senior students dressed in traditional attire. With tilak, garlands, and handmade cards in hand, students expressed their appreciation in the most personal way. The school corridors were adorned with colorful posters, quotes, and artwork dedicated to the teaching staff, setting the tone for a day of celebration.

The formal program commenced in the school auditorium, where the Principal, Adarsh Kumar, delivered an inspiring keynote address. “Teachers are the silent architects of society,” she said. “Their influence goes far beyond textbooks and exams—they shape character, instill values, and ignite curiosity.” His speech was followed by a moment of silence in honor of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, whose birthday marks the occasion of Teachers’ Day in the country. A short documentary on his life and legacy was screened, reminding everyone of the noble roots of the celebration.

The highlight of the day was a series of student-led performances that showcased not only their talent but also their deep respect for their mentors. The program included: – A classical dance performance by the junior girls, symbolizing the journey of learning. – A humorous skit titled “A Day in the Life of a Teacher”, which had the audience in splits while subtly highlighting the challenges educators face. – A musical medley of songs dedicated to teachers, performed by the school choir. – Poetry recitations in Hindi and English, written by students themselves, expressing gratitude and admiration.

No celebration at St. Mariam School would be complete without acknowledging the guiding force behind its growth—Avinash Deo, the Chairman of the school’s Managing Committee. A respected social worker and educational visionary, Mr. Deo has long championed inclusive education and community upliftment in Palamau.

During the Teachers’ Day event, Mr. Deo addressed the gathering with a stirring speech that emphasized the transformative power of teaching. “A teacher is not just a conveyor of knowledge,” he said, “but a cultivator of dreams and dignity. At St. Mariam, we believe in nurturing every child—especially those from marginalized communities—with compassion and excellence.”

His words resonated deeply with the audience, especially as he highlighted the school’s commitment to the Shreshtha Scheme, a government initiative aimed at providing free residential education to children from Scheduled Castes and Tribes. Under Mr. Deo’s stewardship, St. Mariam School has become a beacon of hope for many families in the region.

Mr. Deo also took a moment to personally thank the faculty, acknowledging their tireless efforts and unwavering dedication. “You are the soul of this institution,” he said. “Your work echoes in every success story that walks out of these gates.”

The event concluded with Mr. Deo presenting the Chairman’s Commendation Award to a select group of teachers who had gone above and beyond in their roles, further reinforcing the school’s culture of recognition and respect.
