GARHWA: Under the aegis of the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), the special campaign DAWN (Drug Awareness and Wellness Navigation for Drug-Free India) reached its fourth day on January 9. Principal District and Sessions Judge, and Chairperson of DLSA, Manoj Prasad shared the achievements so far and outlined the roadmap ahead for the initiative that began on January 5.
Speaking about the fourth day of the initiative, the Principal District Judge said that 9 January marks Day 4 of the campaign. After the successful events conducted over the first three days, today awareness programs were organized at Kasturba Gandhi Residential School, Minaral, and several other schools across the district. Children were motivated to stay away from substance abuse and harmful habits.
He emphasised, “Helping children at the nursery level understand right and wrong is the true success of the DAWN program.”
Highlighting the scope of the campaign, he noted that it will continue until January 12, observed as National Youth Day. The goal is to spread the message of drug-free living and wellness to as many children and parents as possible within these eight days.
Sharing feedback from the first four days, Judge Prasad said children are beginning to understand the dangers of bad habits and substance abuse. Teachers are being trained as “navigators” to guide students toward better mental health. He urged media professionals to help transform the campaign into a mass movement, stressing that “a safe childhood ensures a safe nation.”
In the remaining days (January 9–12), special attention will be given to schools in remote rural areas. The campaign will conclude on January 12 with a major message aimed at fostering lasting awareness against drugs in the district. He also appealed to citizens to make use of helpline services when needed: NALSA Toll-Free Number: 15100, for Children 1098, Police Assistance 112 and Ambulance services 108.
