National Road Safety Month 2026 Launched; Awareness Vehicle Flagged Off

GARHWA: In accordance with the directives of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, Government of India, New Delhi, National Road Safety Month 2026 is being observed from January 1 to January 31, 2026. As part of this initiative, Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Magistrate Dinesh Yadav and Superintendent of Police Aman Kumar flagged off the Road Safety Awareness Vehicle from the Collectorate premises.

Present on the occasion were Additional Collector Raj Maheshwaram, Campaign SP Rahul Baraik, District Transport Officer Dheeraj Prakash, Sub-Divisional Officer Sanjay Kumar, along with other officials and staff.

The Deputy Commissioner emphasized that public awareness is crucial to reducing road accidents. Under the theme “Safety through Learning, Transformation through Technology,” the awareness vehicle will tour all blocks and panchayats of Garhwa district, educating citizens about road safety rules. Through this initiative, key messages on helmet and seat belt usage, adherence to traffic regulations, prevention of overspeeding, avoiding driving under the influence, and safe driving practices will be disseminated.

The Superintendent of Police stated that road safety is not solely the responsibility of the administration but a collective duty of every individual in society. Awareness is the key to reducing accidents.

During the event, the Deputy Commissioner, Superintendent of Police, and all present officials and staff signed the pledge board, reaffirming their commitment to road safety. They urged citizens to follow traffic rules, adopt safe driving habits, and spread awareness among others.

It is noteworthy that various awareness programs, rallies, camps, and publicity activities will be organized across the district during National Road Safety Month 2026.

The administration has appealed to the public to follow traffic rules and ensure their own safety as well as that of others.
