Garhwa: In a major initiative to strengthen women-led enterprises and promote sustainable livelihoods, an orientation programme for women entrepreneurs was organised at the Collectorate Auditorium in Garhwa on Tuesday under the Jharkhand Incubator Programme, a joint initiative of the Jharkhand State Livelihood Promotion Society (JSLPS) and IIM Calcutta Innovation Park (IIMCIP) under the DAY-NRLM framework.
The programme was aimed at empowering women associated with Self-Help Groups (SHGs) by providing them with access to structured training, mentoring, business development support, and market linkages. The initiative seeks to strengthen micro-enterprises run by rural women and create avenues for enhanced income generation and economic self-reliance.
The event was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner, Pashupati Nath Mishra, along with public representatives, officials, and other dignitaries, through the ceremonial lighting of the lamp. Discussions during the programme focused on expanding opportunities for women entrepreneurs and enabling rural women to emerge as successful business leaders through innovation and enterprise development.
Addressing the gathering, Devi Prasad, representative of IIMCIP, elaborated on various aspects of the Jharkhand Incubator Programme. He informed participants that selected women entrepreneurs would receive sector-specific business development training, expert mentoring, assistance in statutory compliance, support in connecting with banks and markets, and opportunities to showcase their products through exhibitions and promotional platforms. Detailed information regarding eligibility criteria, application procedures, selection mechanisms, training modules, and financial assistance was also shared with the participants.

Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner Pashupati Nath Mishra emphasized the need for continuous innovation, quality enhancement, and product diversification in response to changing market trends. He encouraged women entrepreneurs to improve product standards, explore new markets, and take advantage of government schemes and institutional support systems available to them.
“The empowerment of women entrepreneurs is a crucial step towards strengthening the rural economy. Women associated with Self-Help Groups can transform traditional skills and local resources into successful business ventures, thereby increasing their incomes and creating new employment opportunities within their communities,” the Deputy Commissioner said.
He also directed officials and field-level cadres to work in close coordination to ensure the effective implementation of the Jharkhand Incubator Programme across the district.
As part of the awareness campaign, an Awareness Rath was flagged off from the Collectorate premises to disseminate information about women entrepreneurship and various government welfare schemes. The vehicle will travel across different parts of Garhwa district, informing rural communities and aspiring entrepreneurs about available opportunities, support mechanisms, and entrepreneurship-related initiatives.
Officials stated that women entrepreneurs selected under the programme would receive comprehensive technical and business support to help them grow their enterprises in a structured and sustainable manner. Access to training, mentorship, banking services, and market networks is expected to significantly improve the reach and competitiveness of their products.
Among those present on the occasion were the Deputy Development Commissioner, Zila Parishad Chairperson, Nagar Parishad Chairperson, District Programme Manager (DPM) of JSLPS, Block Programme Managers (BPMs) from all blocks, members of the district and block-level JSLPS teams, representatives of PRADAN, and other government officials and staff members.
During the programme, officials and representatives urged eligible women entrepreneurs to enroll in the initiative and take full advantage of the training, guidance, financial opportunities, and market access being offered. The programme is expected to play a significant role in fostering economic empowerment among rural women while giving a new identity and direction to women-led enterprises in the district.
