Former Palamu MP Braj Mohan Ram Sworn in as Odisha Governor

Palamau: Senior BJP leader and former three-time Lok Sabha Member of Parliament from Jharkhand, Braj Mohan Ram, was sworn in as the 28th Governor of Odisha at a ceremony held at Lok Bhavan in Bhubaneswar today. The oath of office was administered by Harish Tandon, Chief Justice of the Orissa High Court, in the presence of Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Assembly Speaker Surama Padhy, ministers, lawmakers, and senior officials.

As Governor, Braj Mohan Ram succeeds Hari Babu Kambhampati and assumes responsibility as the constitutional head of Odisha. Congratulating the newly appointed Governor, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi expressed confidence that the state’s development journey would gain further momentum under his guidance.

A seasoned parliamentarian, Ram represented the Palamau Lok Sabha constituency for three consecutive terms, winning elections in 1996, 1998, and 1999. Before his parliamentary career, he also served as a legislator in undivided Bihar, making him one of the few leaders with extensive experience in both state and national politics.

For Jharkhand, particularly the Palamau region, Ram’s elevation to Raj Bhavan is being seen as a moment of pride. From legislative politics in undivided Bihar to representing Palamu in Parliament and now occupying one of the country’s highest constitutional offices at the state level, Braj Mohan Ram’s public career reflects decades of political experience, organizational commitment, and service to public life, the resident claim.

Known for his organizational skills and grassroots connect, Braj Mohan Ram built his political career through sustained engagement with socially marginalized communities. He has been associated with the BJP’s Scheduled Caste outreach initiatives and has remained an influential voice for Dalit empowerment and social justice. His political work has also extended beyond electoral politics, including involvement in educational and social initiatives in the Jharkhand region.

A native of Palamau, Ram’s rise from regional politics to a constitutional position is being viewed as recognition of his decades-long contribution to public life and organization-building. His appointment by President Droupadi Murmu was announced on October 12 as part of a gubernatorial reshuffle across several states.
