Ramayanand Sagar: The Torchbearer of Valmiki and Tulsidas Traditions

GARHWA: The birth anniversary of the legendary writer, producer, and director, Late Shri Ramayanand Sagar, was celebrated with reverence at Melody Mandap, Garhwa. The event was organized by Pandit Harsh Dwivedi Kala Manch, an institution devoted to art and social service.

The program commenced with floral tributes to Sagar’s portrait. Introducing the theme, Manch director Neeraj Sridhar observed, “Maharishi Valmiki composed the Ramkatha in Sanskrit for the welfare of humanity. Later, Goswami Tulsidas brought this sacred story to the masses in their own language, spreading the ideals of Maryada Purushottam Shri Ram to every household. When television emerged as a dominant medium, Ramayanand Sagar carried this tradition to a global stage through his timeless series ‘Ramayan.’ He truly upheld the legacy of Valmiki and Tulsidas.”

Astrologer Shyam Narayan Pandey described Sagar as a man of multifaceted talent, while music teacher P.K. Mishra remarked, “Through his epic series, Sagar proved how art can serve humanity.” Budding poet Saurabh Kumar Tiwari recited a devotional verse, adding a spiritual touch to the occasion.

The event concluded with a peace invocation by Kumar Gaurav Garg: “Sarve Bhavantu Sukhinah… Om Shantih Shantih Shantih.” Key contributors included Dayashankar Gupta, Shyam Narayan Pandey, and Kumar Gaurav Garg.
