Chicago/Raipur: In a proud moment for the global Chhattisgarhi community, the Government of Chhattisgarh has conferred the prestigious Pravasi Bharatiya Chhattisgarh Samman upon Deepali Saraogi, a native of Bacheli in Dantewada district and a prominent Indian-American community leader based in Chicago, USA. The award recognizes her outstanding contribution to promoting Chhattisgarh’s culture, heritage, community engagement, and strengthening ties between the state and the global diaspora.
The recognition has been widely celebrated by the North America Chhattisgarh Association (NACHA), a leading global organization representing Non-Resident Chhattisgarhis across continents. Deepali Saraogi, the Founder and Executive President of NACHA, has played a pivotal role in building a vibrant international network of Chhattisgarhi communities and fostering meaningful cultural and economic connections between Chhattisgarh and the world.
Born and raised in Bacheli, Saraogi has remained deeply connected to her roots despite her international journey. Through NACHA, she has worked tirelessly to unite Chhattisgarh-origin families, professionals, entrepreneurs, and cultural ambassadors across North America and other parts of the world. Today, NACHA has expanded its footprint across 19 countries, including the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Germany, Singapore, the UAE, Australia, and several Nordic nations, emerging as one of the most influential platforms promoting Chhattisgarhi identity on a global scale.
Apart from her contributions through NACHA, Saraogi is also the Founder and President of the DTribals Foundation and the driving force behind the Bharatiya Swadeshi Mela USA, one of the largest Indian cultural and trade festivals in the United States. Over the past four years, the event has grown into a major platform for cultural exchange and entrepreneurship, attracting more than 30,000 visitors annually. The festival provides international exposure to Indian artisans and craftsmen, with over 50 traditional artisans from India participating each year to showcase indigenous arts, crafts, and cultural heritage before global audiences.
NACHA described the award as a matter of immense pride not only for Deepali Saraogi but also for the worldwide Chhattisgarhi diaspora. The organization noted that the recognition reflects the growing contributions of overseas Chhattisgarhis in preserving cultural heritage, promoting the state’s identity, and strengthening people-to-people connections across borders.
Expressing gratitude to the Government of Chhattisgarh, NACHA thanked the Hon’ble Chief Minister and state authorities for acknowledging the achievements of the global Chhattisgarhi community. The association stated that such recognition would inspire overseas Chhattisgarhis to further contribute towards the state’s cultural promotion, economic development, and international visibility.
“Deepali Saraogi’s journey from Bacheli in Dantewada to becoming a respected community leader in Chicago embodies dedication, leadership, cultural pride, and an unwavering commitment to her homeland. This honour is a source of inspiration for Chhattisgarh’s diaspora worldwide and reaffirms the important role NRIs can play in advancing the global recognition of their motherland,” NACHA said in a statement.
Deepali Saraogi has previously received recognition on several international platforms for her leadership in cultural diplomacy, community service, and diaspora engagement. Her latest honour further strengthens her reputation as one of the most prominent global ambassadors of Chhattisgarh’s culture and heritage.
NACHA extended its heartfelt congratulations to Deepali Saraogi and wished her continued success in her mission to promote Chhattisgarh’s identity, traditions, heritage, and developmental aspirations on the global stage.
