Garhwa: The district administration has taken strict action in a financial irregularity case under the MNREGA scheme in Ranka block. Deputy Commissioner Dinesh Kumar Yadav ordered the removal of Hashim Ansari, Block Programme Officer (MNREGA), Ranka, after charges of misappropriation of government funds surfaced in the implementation of Didi Badi Yojana.
According to officials, fake demands were generated in several gram panchayats, leading to premature withdrawal of funds meant for three years within a single year, in violation of MNREGA guidelines. A district-level probe revealed that most schemes were not implemented on the ground as per estimates, indicating serious financial misconduct.
The explanation submitted by the BPO was found unsatisfactory. Investigations further revealed tampering with pre-entered schemes on the MNREGA MIS portal to show them as ongoing. The Deputy Commissioner stated that deliberate violations of guidelines and negligence would not be tolerated.
The Block Development Officer, Ranka, was also issued a strict warning for lack of proper supervision and directed to improve work practices. The Deputy Commissioner reiterated that action against those indulging in irregularities will continue.
