Harivansh Rai Bachchan: A Timeless Voice of Sensitivity and Courage

GARHWA: The monthly literary gathering “Kavyanuragi”, organized by Pandit Harsh Dwivedi Kala Manch in Nawada (Garhwa), was dedicated to emerging writers and marked a solemn occasion this time. On the death anniversary of Dr. Harivansh Rai Bachchan, participants offered heartfelt tributes through their creative works, celebrating the poet’s enduring legacy.

Introducing the theme, writer Pramod Kumar reflected on Bachchan’s masterpiece Madhushala, noting how it symbolically captured life’s joys and sorrows, victories and defeats, and the acceptance of self. He emphasized that Bachchan’s language was simple yet profound, flowing with emotion while balancing scholarship and the common heart’s simplicity. More than a poet, Bachchan was a witness of his times and a carrier of human sensitivity.

His philosophy urged people to move forward without dwelling on the past, encapsulated in his famous line: “Jo beet gayi so baat gayi” (“What is gone is gone”). His verses continue to inspire courage, reminding us to preserve humanity even in adversity, to celebrate life, and to keep progressing.

The program featured diverse poetic voices. Dharmendra Kumar Pushkar presented his composition “On this stage you are but a traveler…”, while the director of the platform, Neeraj Sridhar ‘Swargiya’, recited “You are my companion, you are my life-breath…”. Poetess Jaipurna Vishwakarma beautifully conveyed human emotions in her poem “Silence”, and Saurabh Kumar Tiwari paid tribute to Bachchan with the inspiring lines of “Those who try never lose…”.

Together, these performances created a tapestry of remembrance, weaving personal creativity with collective homage. The gathering not only honored Bachchan’s memory but also reaffirmed his influence on generations of writers and readers. His words gave language, meaning, and a new vision to countless lives, shaping the way people perceive struggle, resilience, and celebration.

The event concluded with a peace prayer, leaving participants with a renewed sense of connection to the timeless wisdom of Harivansh Rai Bachchan—a poet whose voice continues to resonate as both a guide and a source of courage.
