BDO Warns of Action if Hospital Fails to Improve Within Two Days

Garhwa/Bardiha: Block Development Officer Pravin Singh conducted a surprise inspection of the Bardiha Community Health Centre and expressed strong dissatisfaction over the poor state of healthcare services, shortage of resources, and administrative negligence. During the inspection, several critical deficiencies came to light, highlighting the urgent need for improvements in the facility’s functioning.

He found a severe shortage of medical staff and basic healthcare resources. The hospital, which was earlier functioning as a health sub-centre, continues to face manpower constraints, with only one ANM currently managing the labour room. It was also observed that despite the availability of laboratory equipment and two laboratory technicians, diagnostic services had not been made operational.

Expressing serious concern over the situation, the BDO directed the concerned authorities to make the laboratory functional and ensure the availability of all essential emergency medicines within two days. He also stated that correspondence would be initiated with the Deputy Commissioner to strengthen emergency healthcare services at the facility. Failure to improve the situation within the stipulated timeframe could lead to an explanation being sought from the responsible medical officer.

The inspection further revealed the absence of essential emergency medicines, including anti-venom injections for snakebite treatment and anti-rabies vaccines. Concerns were also raised regarding the utilisation of maintenance funds, as basic facilities in the hospital remained inadequate despite financial allocations for upkeep.

After reviewing the cleanliness of the hospital, toilets, and labour room, Mr. Singh sought explanations from officials regarding the shortcomings and the use of maintenance funds. However, no satisfactory response could be provided. It was subsequently learnt that the facility is currently under the charge of the Medical Officer In-Charge of Majhiaon.

Reaffirming the administration’s commitment to public welfare, Mr. Singh said every effort would be made to strengthen healthcare services at Bardiha Hospital and ensure better medical facilities for local residents despite existing resource constraints.
