GARHWA: In a significant development for the town’s civic administration, Ashish Soni on Tuesday formally assumed charge as Chairman of the Garhwa Nagar Parishad, days after securing a decisive mandate in the municipal elections. Soni clinched 7,201 votes, defeating JMM‑backed contender Santosh Kumar Kesri by a margin of 3,411 votes, emerging as the electorate’s clear preference from among 12 candidates in the fray.
Soni’s rise to leadership is particularly notable because he contested as an independent candidate, without backing from any political party, yet succeeded in reshaping political equations with his strong grassroots presence.
Upon taking charge, Soni outlined a vision focused on strengthening basic civic infrastructure and improving everyday living conditions for residents. His priorities include improving drainage systems, internal streets, and public lighting, which he believes are essential for creating a cleaner, safer, and more functional town. These commitments reflect his belief that development must begin with essentials that directly impact public comfort and dignity.
Soni also emphasized transparent governance, citizen participation, and continued engagement with local communities. He aims to establish more accessible communication channels with people around and ensure that municipal services respond promptly to public needs.
With a strong mandate and a reputation for sincerity, Ashish Soni’s leadership marks a new chapter for the Garhwa Nagar Parishad—one shaped by accountability, inclusiveness, and a people‑centric roadmap for the future.
