Garhwa: The district administration has intensified measures to curb air and noise pollution and maintain law and order during the festive season in the Sub-division. Authorities have warned that strict legal action will be taken against individuals found violating regulations relating to the sale, storage and use of firecrackers.
Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) Mayank Bhushan has issued directives to all concerned officials and police station in-charges to ensure stringent enforcement of the guidelines issued by the administration. The instructions have been issued in compliance with the orders of Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Magistrate Pashupati Nath Mishra.
According to the directive, Circle Officers, Executive Officers of Garhwa Municipal Council and Majhiaon Nagar Panchayat, along with all police station heads, have been asked to ensure strict adherence to norms governing the use and sale of firecrackers within their respective jurisdictions.
The administration has directed officials to enforce, in letter and spirit, the guidelines issued by the Supreme Court, the National Green Tribunal (NGT) and the Jharkhand State Pollution Control Board regarding firecrackers. Continuous monitoring has been ordered, and officials have been asked to take immediate action in cases of violations.
SDO Mayank Bhushan stated that no leniency would be shown towards those disregarding administrative orders. He warned that individuals involved in the use of prohibited firecrackers, unauthorized sales, or violations of prescribed standards would face legal action under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), the Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1981, the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986, and other applicable laws.
Officials and police personnel have also been instructed to maintain heightened vigilance, educate firecracker vendors about regulatory requirements, and conduct awareness campaigns among the public. Any negligence or laxity in implementing the orders will be viewed seriously, the administration said.
The district administration has appealed to residents, traders and firecracker sellers to comply with all prescribed guidelines and celebrate the festive season responsibly. Citizens have been urged to take special care of children, senior citizens, patients and the environment while observing festivities.
Reiterating its commitment to public welfare and environmental protection, the administration said that there would be no compromise on compliance with the rules and that anyone found violating the directives would face strict legal consequences.
