Mumbai: In a significant step towards strengthening industry-ready talent pipelines and promoting skill-based workforce development, the National Institute of Personnel Management (NIPM), Mumbai Chapter, in collaboration with the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), Regional Directorate of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (RDSDE), Directorate of Vocational Education and Training (DVET), Maharashtra, N. M. Lokhande Maharashtra Institute of Labour Studies (MILS), and AITM, successfully organized an Apprenticeship/NAPS Awareness Seminar at NM MILS, Parel, Mumbai.
The high-impact seminar witnessed enthusiastic participation from over 225 HR leaders, talent acquisition professionals, learning and development specialists, industry representatives, and apprenticeship ecosystem stakeholders, reflecting the growing importance of apprenticeship as a key component of India’s future workforce strategy.
The programme served as a vital platform for deliberations on the transformative role of apprenticeships in addressing skill gaps, enhancing employability, building future-ready talent, and fostering stronger industry-academia linkages. Experts from participating institutions provided detailed insights into apprenticeship frameworks, government incentives, regulatory compliance requirements, and best practices for effective implementation across sectors.

Addressing the gathering, Deodatta Kalyankar, Chairman, NIPM Mumbai, underscored the evolving role of HR professionals in shaping organizational competitiveness through talent development initiatives. He emphasized that apprenticeship should not be viewed merely as a statutory obligation or a cost-optimization measure, but as a strategic investment in human capital and sustainable business growth.
“Organizations that integrate apprenticeship into their long-term workforce planning frameworks are better positioned to build skilled talent pipelines, reduce capability gaps, and create future leadership pools,” he observed. He further highlighted that apprenticeship programmes offer a practical pathway for aligning academic learning with industry expectations, thereby accelerating job readiness and improving workforce productivity.
The seminar also facilitated meaningful dialogue between employers, policymakers, educational institutions, and HR professionals on leveraging the National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS) to create inclusive and demand-driven employment opportunities. Interactive discussions enabled participants to exchange experiences, address implementation challenges, and explore innovative approaches to apprenticeship engagement.
Highlighting NIPM Mumbai’s longstanding contribution to the HR fraternity, Mr. Kalyankar encouraged professionals to actively engage with the institute’s knowledge-sharing initiatives and become Life Members to contribute towards advancing the HR profession.
The successful seminar reaffirmed NIPM Mumbai’s commitment to promoting HR excellence, skill development, and industry collaboration. As organizations increasingly prioritize talent agility and workforce sustainability, such initiatives are expected to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of human capital management in India.
The organizers expressed their gratitude to all collaborating institutions, distinguished speakers, participants, and NIPM Life Members whose support and contributions ensured the success of the programme.
