Dr Amit Khanna Appointed CHRO of Jindal (India) Limited

New Delhi: Jindal (India) Limited has appointed Dr Amit Khanna as its Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO), marking a significant new chapter in the veteran HR professional’s career. The appointment is effective from August 2026.

Dr Khanna brings more than 26 years of experience in human resources and organisational leadership, having worked across sectors including steel, infrastructure, aviation, telecommunications, information technology and power.

Before joining Jindal (India), Dr Khanna spent nearly 14 years with Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL), where he most recently served as AVP and Head – HR. During his tenure, he held several senior HR responsibilities covering talent management, HR operations, organisational development and people strategy.

His earlier professional assignments include leadership roles at Reliance Communications, Bharti Airtel, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and NTPC, giving him extensive exposure to both corporate and operational HR environments. His career at NTPC also provided him with experience in plant HR and industrial relations.

At Jindal (India), Dr Khanna will lead the organisation’s HR and Administration function, with a mandate encompassing talent management, organisational effectiveness, leadership development, employee engagement, performance management, HR transformation and workforce capability.

His appointment comes at a significant phase for Jindal (India), a part of the B.C. Jindal Group with a long-standing presence in the steel industry. The company manufactures a range of steel products and serves sectors including infrastructure, construction, oil and gas, solar and original equipment manufacturing.

Dr Khanna holds an MBA from Kurukshetra University and a PhD in Business Administration and Management from Dayalbagh Educational Institute. He also holds a BSc in Chemistry and Mathematics.

In his new role, his focus is expected to extend beyond conventional HR administration towards people capability, productivity, workforce transformation and business growth. His transition from a large aviation ecosystem to the steel and manufacturing sector also brings cross-industry experience that could prove valuable as Jindal (India) continues to strengthen its organisational and people systems.

The appointment places an experienced HR leader at the helm of the company’s people function at a time when manufacturing businesses are increasingly focusing on workforce productivity, leadership capability, technology-led HR transformation and employee engagement.
