Garhwa: A theft was reported at the ancestral residence of Garhwa MLA Satyendra Nath Tiwari in Belhara village, after unidentified miscreants broke into the locked house late Tuesday night.
According to information received, the house was unoccupied at the time of the incident. Taking advantage of the absence of family members, the burglars reportedly broke the lock of the main door and entered the premises. Several rooms inside the house were ransacked, and household articles were found scattered, suggesting that the intruders conducted a thorough search.
The incident came to light on Wednesday morning when local residents noticed signs of forced entry and informed the police. A team from Garhwa Sadar police station soon reached the spot and carried out a preliminary investigation. The exact extent of the loss is yet to be determined, and officials are assessing whether any valuables were stolen.
Garhwa Superintendent of Police Aman Kumar confirmed the incident and said that a special police team under the supervision of the SDPO has been constituted to investigate the matter. He added that police are examining all possible angles and conducting searches in nearby areas to trace the culprits.
The theft has raised concerns among residents of Belhara village, who expressed apprehension over security arrangements, particularly at night. Following the incident, the police have assured that surveillance and patrolling in the area will be intensified to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
