Jharkhand Assembly panel reviews development works in the district, issues directions

Garhwa: A Committee of the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly paid an official visit to district on Thursday to assess the progress and ground-level implementation of various development and public welfare schemes. The committee held a comprehensive review meeting with district administration and officials from multiple departments at the Circuit House.

The meeting was chaired by the Committee Chairman and MLA Satyendra Nath Tiwari. Senior officials from the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly, including Deputy Secretary Kundan Singh, SO Umesh Kumar, and Personal Secretary Gautam Kumar, also attended the meeting.

During the review, the committee examined the current status of development schemes being executed across the district and discussed challenges affecting timely completion of projects. Key focus areas included works undertaken through MLA funds, land acquisition processes, pending compensation payments, road construction projects, infrastructure development, and the progress of rural and urban drinking water supply schemes.

Special emphasis was placed on compensation payments related to land acquired for road construction. Officials were instructed to submit updated reports and resolve grievances linked to compensation and construction delays in a time-bound manner. The committee also reviewed the functioning of the Mining Department and deliberated on measures to curb illegal sand mining. Directions were issued to strengthen monitoring and enforcement in identified vulnerable areas.

Matters related to paddy procurement were also taken up during the meeting. After reviewing progress reports on procurement targets, the committee directed the District Supply Officer to expedite pending payments for paddy procured through Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS). Additionally, officials were asked to address long-pending AC/DC bill-related cases with seriousness.

The review further covered a wide range of sectoral issues, including the construction of bridges and culverts, hostels, ration distribution under the public distribution system, development of sports grounds by the Sports Department, auction of sand ghats, healthcare facilities and recruitments under the Health Department, labor migration from the district, pending mutation cases, social forestry initiatives, electricity supply works, and development projects undertaken by rural and urban local bodies.

The committee also reviewed the rehabilitation of families displaced by the Shaheed Neelambar Peetambar North Koel Project (Mandal Dam). Discussions focused on the resettlement of affected families in Vishrampur and Baligarh areas of the Ranka–Ramkanda region, with necessary directions issued to the concerned departments.

Addressing the officials, Chairman Satyendra Nath Tiwari emphasized that ensuring the benefits of government schemes reach the last person is a collective responsibility. He stressed transparency, accountability, and efficiency in the execution of development works and urged officials to remain responsive to public grievances.

Senior district officials, departmental heads, engineers, and administrative officers were present during the meeting.
