BDO Pravin Singh Sets Monthly Salary Deadline, Flags Alleged Unauthorised Collection

Bardiha: The Block Development Officer Pravin Singh, on Tuesday has directed the headmaster of Mukhdev Plus Two High School to ensure teachers receive their salaries by the first or second of every month and to immediately stop any alleged collection of money for processing salary bills.

The directions followed a meeting with teachers from high schools and higher secondary schools in the block. They told the BDO that salary payments had been delayed, including during Durga Puja, and expressed concern about receiving their pay on time ahead of Diwali and Chhath. The teachers said the delays had created financial strain, including difficulties meeting loan instalments.

They also alleged that Rs: 50 was being collected from each teacher in the name of processing salary bills. Singh instructed school head and drawing and disbursing officer Ravishankar Ojha to stop the practice immediately.

When expenses related to processing the bills were raised, Singh said the process and the relevant NIC services were free. He offered to have the bills processed at the block office without charge and asked teachers to bring any demand for payment directly to him.

The BDO said the monthly salary schedule must be followed in accordance with departmental instructions. He warned that any further complaint of money being collected from teachers would be referred to senior officials for appropriate action.

Teachers welcomed the intervention and expressed hope that it would bring regularity to salary payments and address the alleged deductions.
