Garhwa/Bardiha: Calling for a people-centric approach to governance and greater attention to society’s most vulnerable sections, Block Development Officer-cum-Circle Officer Pravin Singh, in his Vijayadashami message, said the true spirit of the festival lies in ensuring that no deserving citizen is deprived of dignity, basic necessities or welfare benefits. Extending his greetings on the occasion, he urged people to draw inspiration from the ideals of Lord Rama and work collectively towards a society rooted in justice, compassion, equality and social harmony.
Singh emphasised that the ideals of Ram Rajya could be meaningfully realised only when governance prioritises the welfare of every citizen, particularly the poor, the elderly, widows and other vulnerable sections of society. He observed that administration must go beyond official procedures and paperwork to become a compassionate, responsive and people-oriented institution that addresses the genuine needs of citizens.
Public service is not merely a profession for me; it is an opportunity to stand beside people in their moments of difficulty and provide support to those who approach the administration with hope and trust,” Singh said, underlining his commitment to making governance more accessible, sensitive and accountable.
Drawing inspiration from the life and ideals of Lord Rama, he said that good governance must be founded on justice, equality, dignity and respect for every individual, irrespective of social or economic circumstances. According to him, the true measure of an administration is not simply the implementation of government schemes, but the difference those initiatives make in the lives of ordinary people.
He stressed that meaningful administration begins when officials step beyond their offices, interact directly with citizens and understand the challenges confronting them. He described public trust and the affection of the people as powerful sources of motivation, adding that the administration’s responsibility is to ensure that genuine grievances receive timely attention and eligible beneficiaries are not deprived of their rightful entitlements.
Giving a broader social message through the symbolism of Vijayadashami, Singh said that the burning of Ravana should inspire society to confront the evils that continue to obstruct collective progress. Poverty, illiteracy, corruption, hunger, inequality and despair, he noted, are challenges that demand sustained efforts from both the administration and the community. The festival’s message of victory over evil would acquire greater significance when every family has access to basic necessities, children receive opportunities to learn and vulnerable citizens can live with dignity and security.
As long as a poor family struggles to meet its basic needs, or an elderly person or a widow faces difficulties in receiving benefits to which they are entitled, our collective responsibility remains unfinished,” he remarked. He added that development becomes meaningful only when its benefits reach the last person in society and no deserving individual is overlooked.
Appealing to residents to celebrate Vijayadashami in an atmosphere of peace, harmony and mutual respect, Singh urged people to rise above divisions and strengthen the bonds that unite communities. He said festivals provide an opportunity not only to celebrate cultural traditions but also to renew society’s commitment to compassion, cooperation and shared responsibility.
Reaffirming his commitment to inclusive development there, Singh said the administration would continue working towards ensuring that welfare initiatives and development opportunities reach eligible citizens. He emphasised that public institutions must remain attentive to the concerns of ordinary people and work with sincerity to address their needs, particularly those of families facing economic hardship or social vulnerability.
Concluding his message, the officer extended his wishes for peace, prosperity, good health and happiness to the people of Bardiha and the wider state. He expressed hope that the spirit of Vijayadashami would inspire citizens and public servants alike to strengthen the values of truth, service and humanity, contributing to a society where progress is shared, dignity is protected and no one is left behind.
