Garhwa: In a remarkable initiative to promote cardiovascular health and preventive healthcare, a massive awareness campaign was organized on the occasion of World Heart Day under the guidance of Dr. Pankaj Prabhat. The programme brought together senior district officials, public representatives, medical professionals, social activists and citizens on a common platform to spread awareness about the growing burden of heart diseases and the importance of adopting a healthy lifestyle.
The event was spearheaded by Manoj Pandey, a noted healthcare entrepreneur who runs a medical facility in the district and played a pivotal role in conceptualizing and organizing the programme. He was ably supported by a dedicated team of social workers and community leaders, including Rakesh Tiwari, Rajiv Ranjan Tiwari, Mithilesh Tiwari, Anant Dubey, Brijesh Upadhyay, Binay Kumar Choubey, Ranjan Choubey, and several other volunteers whose collective efforts ensured the success of the campaign.
The event witnessed the presence of some of the district’s most prominent dignitaries, including the Deputy Commissioner, DDC, Superintendent of Police, CRPF Commandant Ajay Verma, the Sub-Divisional Officer, former Minister Girinath Singh, Nagar Parishad Chairperson Ashish Soni, along with doctors from various healthcare institutions. Their participation underscored the importance of public awareness in combating heart-related ailments, which continue to be among the leading causes of mortality worldwide.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Pankaj Prabhat emphasized that modern lifestyles characterized by stress, poor dietary habits, lack of physical activity and increasing incidences of diabetes and hypertension have significantly elevated the risk of cardiovascular diseases. He stressed that awareness, early diagnosis and timely intervention remain the most effective strategies for preventing heart attacks and other cardiac complications.
A distinctive feature of the campaign was its scientifically designed age-based awareness model. Participants were divided into three separate groups to receive tailored guidance according to their age and risk profile. The first group consisted of individuals below the age of 30, who were educated on the importance of developing healthy habits early in life. The second group included participants between the ages of 30 and 50, who were advised on managing professional stress, maintaining work-life balance and undergoing regular health screenings. The third group comprised senior citizens above 50 years of age, who received detailed counselling on cardiac risk management, medication compliance and the importance of regular monitoring of blood pressure, blood sugar and cholesterol levels.
Speaking on the occasion, CRPF Commandant Ajay Verma highlighted the critical role of physical fitness, discipline and mental resilience in maintaining a healthy heart. The district administration also lauded the initiative, with officials emphasizing that community-driven awareness programmes are essential for strengthening the public health ecosystem and encouraging people to take responsibility for their own well-being.
Former Minister Girinath Singh praised the organizers for bringing together administration, healthcare professionals and civil society for a cause that directly impacts every family. Ashish Soni, Chairperson of the Nagar Parishad, called upon citizens to embrace regular exercise, balanced nutrition and preventive healthcare as integral parts of daily life rather than occasional practices.
The programme concluded with a collective pledge by participants to adopt heart-healthy lifestyles and disseminate awareness within their families and communities. With its broad participation, innovative format and strong message of prevention, the World Heart Day campaign emerged as one of the most significant public health initiatives organized in Garhwa, reinforcing the collective commitment of the district towards building a healthier and more informed society.
