NEW DELHI: It seems the ground is ready for a Bollywood clean up. A complaint has been filed against big film stars including Karan Johar and Deepika Padukone by NCB for consumption and possession of drugs.
The complaint comes after SAD leader Manjinder Sirsa met DG NCB Rakesh Asthana and registered complaint against Karan Johar and other big Bollywood stars.
Other film stars against whom complaint has been filed are – Malaika Arora, Arjun Kapoor, Shahid Kapoor, Mira Rajput Kapoor, Natasha Dalal, Zoya Akhtar, Ranbir Kapoor, Ayan Mukerji, Varun Dhawan, Vicky Kaushal and others for consumption and possession of drugs during a party thrown by Karan Johar.
They have been booked under Chapter 4 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985. Sirsa expressed hope that the NCB probe will bring out other big names and won’t stop in coming days. He also said that he will move court against Mumbai Police for their inaction.
The complaint states that consumption and possession of drugs in the video which had gone viral amidst Sushant Singh Rajput death case is glaring evidence about the incident of illicit drug traffic and abuse by persons belonging to Bollywood.
The video depicts Karan Johar shooting the party where Bollywood stars are seen enjoying the moments. The recording begins with Deepika Padukone posing with director Shakun Batra, followed by Malaika Arora’s wink, to Karan Johar focusing on Arjun Kapoor, who is chatting with Shahid Kapoor.
Sirsa said the NCB chief has given him assurance of reinvestigating the case. He had, in 2019, had registered a complaint against these Bollywood stars for narcotics offences, but Mumbai police did not act on it. They did not take action for two reasons, and that is that Mumbai Police is in hand-in-glove with the Bollywood stars and doing drugs is a common thing in Bollywood parties.
