NEW DELHI: TeamSatyug, city based, volunteer-driven organization which works to eliminate the backlog of the court cases in the country and advocating for the justice be delivered within a year. The organization ‘TeamSatyug’ is led by Vishal Gupta, (42) entrepreneur based in United State, aiming to empower its citizens to contribute to a fair, transparent and accountable judicial system. It emphasises on the need of a stringent perjury law, either to be enacted or amended in the existing legal system in the country.
It has hosted the press conference, which was addressed by Ashwini Upadhyay, distinguished advocate of the Supreme Court along with Vishnu Sharma, the Co-chairman of the Delhi Bar Association at the Press Club of India. On the occasion a booklet on proposal of the law name “Satyug Act 2024” was also launched.
The dignitaries were of the view that ‘Perjury’ is an essential element of the justice system, laying under the oath, becomes grave offence that undermines the integrity of the judicial process. Time to time, the courts have raised concerns over the misuses of the same. Even the Supreme Court has said so – remained inadvertently addressed and not given the seriousness it deserves.
While speaking to the gathering, Ashwini Upadhyay says ‘Perjury is a significant threat to not only the sanctity of the judicial system but also the national security, as it undermines the administrative processes that laid down by the governments across the country. Quoting with examples, Ashwini Upadhyay said that forges documents are being prepared under the oath. Aadhar, birth-certificates, ration cards, passport are being generated under the false preview. He further states that ‘by not addressing it with seriousness, we are also allowing our courts integrity to be compromised’.
He thanked the ‘TeamSatyug’ for the initiatives for the matter to take up and bring into the public domain and also to create the stringent perjury law which is crucial step towards ensuring justice for all. It will enable the courts to have the justice delivered within a year.
Vishnu Sharma added that implementation of perjury law is essential to restore the credibility of our judicial system. It is not just about punishment but about creating an environment where truth prevails. It will also help in preventing the unnecessary legal cases which occurred in the country leading to burden on our system. As on date approximately 5 crores cases are pending across the country and many of them are having the same nature, Vishnu Sharma added.
He also admires and said the initiative of ‘TeamSatyug’ requires huge courage and I am glad that individuals like Vishal Gupta is coming forward to correct the vices within; attempting to rectify the false testimonies without fear and favor. We can hope that India can be fostering the way things are being shaped by Vishal and his organization ‘TeamSatyug’.
Addressing the gathering, Vishal Gupta said that our mission is to contribute to the nation in our personal capacity. The one-time amnesty program is a groundbreaking approach to deal with perjury. ‘We urge the countrymen to join us in this noble cause, dedicating just an hour a day to bring the people together and substantial change.’
