NEW DELHI: Pankaj Kumar, Advocate of Supreme Court has been filed in Delhi High Court seeking to modify the Delhi government’s decision on complete ban of the storage, sale and uses of firecrackers in the national capital during the festive seasons.
The plea also urges that the decision to ban all forms of firecrackers prior to over a month before Diwali is arbitrary and unreasonable, and claimed that decision is excessive.
As per the petitioner, the National Clean Air Programme, which falls under the preview of the Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change, presented a report on the issue of Air pollution and its findings.
The plea claims that the data presented in the report suggests that the bursting of the firecrackers is not the major sources of pollution in Delhi – NCR.
