Decades-Long Wait Ends as Road Construction Begins in Adar Panchayat

In a significant development for rural connectivity, construction of a long-awaited earthen and morrum road from Jamun Tree to the boundary of the Sukh River in Adar Panchayat has commenced under the VB-G RAM G scheme. Block Development Officer (BDO) Pravin Singh attended the foundation-laying ceremony as the chief guest, marking the beginning of a project that residents say they had awaited since Independence.

The ceremony was attended by elected representatives and around 200–250 villagers, including women, children and elderly residents. The project was formally inaugurated by unveiling the foundation stone and cutting a ribbon. Following traditional rituals, officials and public representatives also took up spades and filled baskets with soil to symbolically initiate the construction work.

Addressing the gathering, BDO Pravin Singh emphasised that community participation would be essential to ensuring the quality and durability of the road. He urged villagers to take ownership of the project and actively monitor the construction process.

This road is not merely being built by the block administration or the government; it belongs to all of you. You must ensure that its quality is maintained and actively monitor the work,” Singh said, stressing the importance of public oversight in rural development initiatives.

Villagers expressed satisfaction that construction had finally begun after decades of waiting. According to local residents, Singh had personally inspected the muddy stretch on foot around 25 days ago and assured them that steps would be taken to facilitate its construction. The commencement of work has raised hopes among residents who said previous efforts to secure the road had not yielded results.

The initiative has been widely welcomed in the village, with residents viewing it as an important step towards improving rural accessibility and addressing a longstanding infrastructure gap. The road is expected to make movement easier for villagers, particularly during the rainy season, when muddy stretches can create difficulties for pedestrians and other road users.

Among those present were Mukhiya Salma Bibi, panchayat samiti members, ward members and prominent social workers Pradeep Tiwari, Sudama Chaudhary, Sunil Chaudhary, Rajan Chaudhary and Akhilesh Chaudhary. A large number of residents gathered at the site to witness the beginning of construction, with the occasion marked by enthusiasm and optimism.

The launch of the project has renewed hopes among villagers that sustained administrative attention and community participation can help address longstanding rural infrastructure needs. Residents now look forward to the timely completion of the road and the maintenance of construction standards throughout the project.
