GARHWA: Ahead of Holi and Ramadan, Deputy Commissioner Dinesh Yadav and SP (Campaign) Rahul Kumar Badaik on Monday chaired a district-level Peace Committee meeting at the Collectorate auditorium to review preparations and ensure peaceful celebrations across the district.
Public representatives, senior officials, and Peace Committee members from various blocks participated in the meeting. The DC and SP extended greetings to all residents and appealed for unity, stating that Garhwa has a long tradition of celebrating all festivals in a harmonious and brotherly environment. Members present also reaffirmed that no major untoward incidents had taken place in past years.
During the meeting, committee members requested the administration to ensure adequate arrangements during the festive period, including uninterrupted power supply, sanitation work, drinking water availability, and healthcare services. The DC directed concerned departments to ensure these essential services are fully functional during the celebrations.
The DC appealed to citizens to immediately inform the police about any suspicious activity or incidents so that timely action can be taken. He also instructed officials to conduct Peace Committee meetings at subdivision, block, panchayat, and village levels, especially in sensitive areas, involving local representatives and community leaders.
SP Badaik sought public cooperation and instructed police station in-charges to remain alert, identify antisocial elements, increase patrolling, and take preventive measures under Section 107. He also cautioned citizens against spreading or believing rumors on social media and said the Cyber Cell will maintain close surveillance on posts that could provoke tension.
Zila Parishad Chairperson Shanti Devi also extended greetings and urged residents to celebrate in an atmosphere of peace and brotherhood.
The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks in the presence of senior officials, police officers, block-level authorities, and Peace Committee members.
