Jharkhand High Court Pulls up RMC on ‘Ranchi Lake’ Maintenance

RANCHI: The Jharkhand high court came down on Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC) for its lack of maintenance of the Swami Vivekanand Sarovar, which is also known as ‘Ranchi Lake’ and directed the  civic body to apprise the court as to its plan of beautification.

The court also instructed the government to present a plan of restoring and conversing all the water bodies in the state before the court upon its next hearing.

The public interest litigation (PIL) was filed by advocate Khushbu Kataruka, the division bench heard by Chief Justice Dr. Ravi Ranjan and Justice Sujit Narayan prasad.

The bench also observed that there cannot be any excuse by RMC which has miserably failed to maintain the beauty of the Ranch Lake.

In defence, the RMC said that it has already floated tenders  many times for cleaning the lake, but there were no takers for the work. However, the bench didn’t accept this arguments and directed the civic body to file its reply regarding this matter with four week after comply with the court’s directive.
