Bhima Koregaon: SC Advocate Pankaj Singh Urges CJI to Look Into It

NEW DELHI: Senior Advocate of the Supreme Court, Pankaj Singh on Tuesday writes to Chief Justice of India (CJI) NV Raman, urging him to take a notice on the statement given by Justice S S Shinde of the Bombay High Court, who has shown utmost respect for a alleges moist leader Stan Swami while hearing his bail plea few months ago.

The matter came into light, when a legal right outfit, Legal Rights Observatory (LRO) has sought public response to initiate the impeachment against Justice S S Shinde last week. According to the report, the LRO has received overwhelming responses from the public in this regard.

In his letter to CJI, Advocate Singh urges to look into the matter on utmost priority in order to intact the faith of the people in judiciary. He is of the view that Justice Shinde has crossed the line of judicial propriety while hearing the bail plea Stan Swamy, an accused of Bhima Koregaon incident. Withdrawing the statement given during the hearing is not adequate, and Justice Shinde must rescue himself from all matters related to this incident, he added.
